The Glyptothek Museum, commissioned by Ludwig I of Bavaria, is part of the Art District (Kunstareal) and houses the richest collection of only Roman and Greek Sculptures in Bavaria.
It is one of the oldest public museums in Munich and is unique as it contains sculptures dating back to ancient times. The periods covered (from 650 BC to 550 AD) the Archaic, classical, Hellenistic and the Roman periods.
If you have a genuine appreciation for sculptures from the Greek and Roman periods and mythology, then you will thoroughly enjoy this unique exhibition.
