Munich is famous for its art collections. The Alte Pinakothek (Old Pinakothek) houses famous works by Renaissance masters. Starting from 1300 with names like Gioto di Bordone, till the latest 18th century.
Started in the 19th century
Raised by our beloved King Ludwig I in the 1830s, it shows the bond between Bavaria and European culture.
Meet the Masters
Famous paintings by masters (Leonardo da Vinci, Peter Paul Rubens, Albrecht Dürer, Bol, Rembrandt, and others) can be found at the Alte Pinakothek. The collection at the Alte Pinakothek in Munich displays over seven hundred (700) paintings to admire. The active collection shows over 700 paintings, while the institution’s storage houses over 5,000 other remarkable paintings. The active presentation is continually updated to showcase most of our cultural treasures. This is the point where a personal guide makes a difference. My guides are personally trained by me, and I ensure that all of them are prepared with the most current information about the actual shows.
My approach
I have been actively guiding since 1988, and now, in some tours, you may meet me with my passion for art. This background helps me build the best team for your reception here.
My concept is to give you a moment in history where you can correlate the information in the painting with events in the world. Political movements, protests against the church, and the techniques developed at that time.
My tours last about 2 hours, and tickets are included. As a special note, my guide or I will give you one of my books about art and painting. Helping you to celebrate this tour as a special moment in your visit to Munich. I normally offer only small groups, depending on the dimensions of the rooms we visit in the Museum. A maximum of 15 people can be part of a group presentation.
Enjoy Munich
After your tour, you may visit other rooms dedicated to special exhibits from the Alte Pinakothek.
